EASY3CALL EXCEED VPN solution helps ITSP in Middle East solve port blocking problem
2006-11-30
The EASY3CALL EXCEED VPN solution combines the VPN technology with VOIP technology perfectly. The basic design principle of EXCEED VPN solution is that the VOIP packets including protocol and voice data will be encapsulated through VPN tunnel so it conceals the internal information and assures the security of VOIP information transmission.
Recently, our EASY3CALL EXCEED VPN solution helped our customer solved the port blocking problem from local ISP.
The customer said the local ISP in Middle East used technical method to jam VOIP packets so making the operation of ITSP disable. The general principle of this method is that the local ISP installed packets analysis tools in the access server side and judged the packet type by inspecting the information of ports and SIP protocol fields then decided what kinds of packets should be threw away or changed. In this way the local ISP made the VOIP business failing.
Now our customer solved the problem simply by installing an EXCEED-I VPN Server in front of his SIP server and deploying the series of EASY3CALL terminal GIX101 which is built-in VPN-client. our customer replaced all the current terminals with GIX101 for his over 200 customers in Middle East and is not worry about the port blocking problem any more.
How EXCEED VPN solution works

Look at the diagram above, you can find out the difference between the traditional registration processing and the registration processing using our VPN solution.
Traditional registration processing:
VOIP terminal registers to registered server directly and the registered flow and voice flow pass through the registered server. In this traditional registration processing telecom operator could figure out the services type provided by VOIP server provider by detecting data and flow features, then decided to block or filter this kind of VOIP voice data.
The registration processing using VPN solution:
In our VPN solution a virtual Layer-2 network was set up by our Exceed-I VPN server and EASY3CALL series VOIP terminals in which enable VPN-client function. In our VPN solution all terminals don't sent registration request to the registered server but to our Exceed-I VPN server. After Utilizing the uniform encapsulation and encryption to the packet, telecom operator can not judge the service type by detecting data and flow feature of packet. The most important thing is that the service port provided by our Exceed-I VPN server is 80, this port is usually used as a web services port and telecom operator can not block 80 port.
